En la víspera de que este 10 de mayo abra sus puertas Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations en el Museo Metropolitano de Arte de Nueva York, y a unas horas de que inicie la glamorosa gala del Met, te decimos cinco cosas que debes de saber sobre la exhibición.
• Tanto el nombre y concepto de la muestra, tomaron inspiración de la serie Impossible Interviews que el ilustrador, artista y escritor mexicano Miguel Covarrubias desarrolló para Vanity Fair en los años 30. En ilustraciones, en forma de cómic, Covarrubias simulaba una charla entre dos personajes que de otra forma nunca podrían estar juntos; así lo hizo con Al Capone y el procurador de justicia Charles Hughes o Gertrude Stein y Gracie Allen.
•Podrás ver casi 200 piezas, entre vestidos y accesorios que datan de los años 20 a la fecha y que funcionan como un retrato del poder femenino en la moda.
• Son siete galerías, que fueron curadas para confrontar las similitudes entre el trabajo de Elsa y Miuccia: “Waist up/Waist Down”, “Ugly Chic”, “Hard Chic”, “Naïf Chic”, “The Classical Body”, “The Exotic Body” y “The Surreal Body”. No olvides pasar por “Neck up/Knees Down”, una pequeña sala compuesta por los accesorios más representativos de ambas diseñadores, como el famoso sombrero zapato de Schiaparelli, o los zapatos en llamas de Prada.
• El australiano Baz Luhrmann, fue el encargado de dirigir los videos que complementan el recorrido, que incluye ensamble de entrevistas y pasajes de ambas diseñadoras, en los que simulan sostener una conversación en tiempo real.
• Al terminar el recorrido, tienes que pasar por la tienda del Met, ya que tendrá una deliciosa selección de recuerdos. Algunos de los favoritos son el libro compilado por Andrew Bolton y Harold Koda, el prendedor en forma de labios rojos de Schiaparelli y el dije de sandalia de Prada.
